Kamu’26 folk music camp 15–18 June 2026
-Are you 8-17 years old with basic skills on your main instrument? The KAMU’26 summer camp gives your dance or music hobby a fresh boost, brings new friends and keeps you motivated all year round! This year, for the first time, you can also take part in a folk dance course led by a top teacher.
The annual KAMU camp, organised by Suomen Kansanmusiikkiliitto ry (the Finnish Folk Music Association), is held this year from Monday to Thursday during Midsummer week, 15–18 June 2026, at the Eerikkilä sports institute. The camp starts on Monday with registration from 11 am and ends with a final concert, open to families as well, on Thursday from 3 to 4 pm.
The camp is located in Tammela, Kanta-Häme. It is about 100 km from central Helsinki, with a direct route from Turku and Tampere as well.

The camp is for 8-17-year-olds who play or dance folk music, or who are interested in folk music and dance. Campers should have basic skills on their main instrument. Any instrument is welcome, e.g. fiddle, kantele, wind instruments, one-, two- or five-row accordion, guitar, mandolin, ukulele or keyboard instruments (harmonium, piano). Any dance background is fine.
The camp teaches folk music and folk dance in their various forms. Dancers and musicians mostly work separately, but may get to try playing and dancing the other way round during lessons. The KAMU camp ends with a joint final concert on Thursday 18 June.
This year's teachers are dance artist Petri Kauppinen and leading music pedagogue Emilia Lajunen.
Course fee: The course fee is 380 euros for members of Suomen Kansanmusiikkiliitto and 400 euros for others.
The first sibling pays the full price; each additional sibling gets a 50 euro discount.
The fee covers tuition, teaching materials, full board and insurance for the duration of the camp.
Without accommodation, the camp costs 320 € (members), 340 € (non-members).
We also offer the option of bringing a guardian to the camp – mum, dad, or even grandma or grandpa are warmly welcome to support the youngest campers! Guardians pay for full board, bookings directly with Eerikkilä.
The camp is organised by Suomen Kansanmusiikkiliitto, in partnership with Musiikin edistämissäätiö (the Finnish Music Foundation).
