Tours on hold and appointment news

At its first meeting of the year at the end of January, the board of Suomen Kansanmusiikkiliitto (the Finnish Folk Music Association) decided that the spring folk music tours cannot go ahead due to the financial situation.

We thank all the artists who applied for the spring tours, and we hope you follow the association's announcements on the matter going forward: tours will be organised again as soon as the financial situation allows.

At the organising meeting of the association's new board on 24 January 2026, a new vice-chair was also elected: Veli-Jussi Lietsala. Congratulations! We thank the long-serving previous vice-chair Markku Vuori for the past years! Markku continues as a deputy member of the board.

The new vice-chair replaces the previous one on the executive committee, where Ilmari Hunsa, who moved up to full board membership, was elected as the third member of the executive committee in place of Anja Hinkkanen. Warm thanks to Anja for her long work on the executive committee, and good luck to the newly elected!
